Something that many people don’t know about me is that I am low-key obsessed with weddings. I don’t really know if I’ll get married myself but it doesn’t stop me being 100% into other people celebrating their love, and helping create a perfect happy day for someone I care for is my jam. So when one of my best friends invited me to Rock n Roll Bride Live, I just had to say YES!
Rock n Roll Bride Magazine (that I’ve read for years on the sly) celebrated their first wedding event this year, with alternative wedding vendors across the country joining together to form a spectacular extravaganza of epic proportions! Such a fantastic group of powerful alternative women I’ve never seen before and everyone made us feel right at ease.
So what did we get up to?
The vibe was so positive and everyone was treated so well with goodies and freebies and photos and hair and make-up tutorials. It was such an incredible day and there wasn’t a sad face in the house. There was so much to do that we ended up spending the entire day there. My lovely bride-to-be pal had her hair and make up done, we got tattoos, we took photos and generally we just had the best time!
The Vendors
There were WAY too many vendors and sponsors to write about – they’re all listed via this link though as I’m only going to mention a few of my favourites! You should definitely go and give them a follow if you’re a bride to be, because not only are they fantastically talented and their products are incredible, but every single one made us feel right at home and didn’t treat me like “just a bridesmaid” like I’ve come across at other wedding fairs.
PSA: Be nice to bridesmaids. The advice of a bridesmaid is going to be there every step of the way!
~ I bought some incredible Saturn earrings from Tatty Devine – one of my favourite jewellery shops ever.
~ Bottle Blonde Studio brought along some EPIC neon jackets which we just had to flounce around in
~ Gaming4Weddings had some consoles set up so I briefly lost some time playing this absolute classic!
~ Doris Loves Tattoos provided the lovely matching friendship llamas you saw further up this post! And they let us take tons of tattoos home for our friends too.
~ Crown and Glory – another of my favourites – brought along so many veils, and it was so much fun to try them on!
~ Wedding in a Teacup did cute little badges for weddings and deserve a special mention for being so lovely!
The Extra Bits
We watched a few of the talks but honestly at this point I was so tired and excited from wandering around all day, that I just wasn’t in the head-space to take it all in. There were some amazing names there, one of which was the legendary Veronica Dearly who is an incredible illustrator. She spoke about shyness and it just made me love her even more as a person, not just for her incredible talent.
Not only was there all of this but HOLY CRAP – the GOODY BAG! It was the best one I’ve ever seen (and I’ve had more than my fair share!) I did the typical blogger thing of going through it at length on Instagram, which I NEVER do, but when the gets are that good, ya just gotta!
Special thanks to Rock n Roll Bride for having us, and putting on such a great day and goody bag and to the lovely Stacey for letting me share in the event – can’t wait until the BIG event itself!
