After being invited to see Shrek the Musical, I approached the evening with high hopes of reliving the magic of the DreamWorks film. What would the play include or remove? What would it add? How would it feel to see when the classic is so well-loved? These are some ogre-sized boots for it to fill!

It’s not often that I am left speechless after seeing a play. Not a lot can move me nowadays but after seeing Metamorphosis it left me in a deep and thoughtful mood. So much so that it’s taken me just over a day to truly reflect on its impact on me!
I don’t know about you, but I am definitely feeling the effects of winter! It’s a struggle to get out of bed sometimes isn’t it? Well, if you only have ONE outing this winter, make it the Belgrade Theatre pantomime. This year, they’re putting on Cinderella – and as always, it’s the best!
Bram Stoker’s Dracula is a tale that has been captivating audiences for over a century. I’ve seen so many adaptations and offshoots of the classic vampire tale that of course, when Dracula: Mina’s Reckoning came to the stage at the Belgrade, I had to go and see it!
Hallelujah, what an absolute hit! This musical will get you up out of your seat and dancing along the whole way through. The stage was vibrant, the dancing was spot on, the cast were so talented and the songs were all so sing-along worthy!
I recently attended a performance of Phantasmagoria – a new production at the Belgrade Theatre. I had high hopes for the show; with a name like Phantasmagoria and the promise of a ‘gripping psychological horror’, what could be better for the spooky season?
What a night! If you’re looking for an evening full of laughs, The Full Monty absolutely delivers. If you’re a fan of the film then the play is absolutely worth seeing – and if you haven’t seen the film, it’s working class Magic Mike in Sheffield… with a whole array of body types. <3
Happy Spooky Season everyone! It’s been a long time coming, what with these odd summer September days, not that I mind that at all! I’ve been gearing up for spooky season since around July (when HomeSense brings out the first of it’s Halloween goodies that warm my dirty goffic heart). But now, the reaaal fun begins!

The Book Thief play (based on a novel by Markus Zusak) is set in Nazi Germany during World War II. The story is told from the perspective of Death, which is quite unique and really came across well on stage. Death in this scenario wore smart attire so I didn’t immediately realise he was Death!
